German electric air taxi developer Volocopter has signed a memorandum of understanding with Euro Flight Test (EFT) to create the world’s first training courses for eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) pilots.
The partnership aims to establish global standards for pilot familiarisation and training as the urban air mobility sector moves closer to commercial operations.
The courses will cover ground-based eVTOL familiarisation, remote drone operations, flight test training, and specialised eVTOL modules designed to prepare pilots for the unique challenges of operating the new aircraft type.
David Bausek, Volocopter’s Chief Technology Officer, said: “As the urban air mobility industry continues to grow, it is crucial to have well-trained pilots who are familiar with the intricacies of eVTOL aircraft.
“This collaboration will help set the standard for eVTOL pilot training worldwide.”
Volocopter is among the leading developers of eVTOL aircraft, with plans to launch commercial services in the coming years.
