The future of luxury air travel is set to take off—vertically. High-net-worth individuals in the UAE are showing strong enthusiasm for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, with expectations for bespoke luxury and cutting-edge innovation, according to a new survey commissioned by Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX).

The survey, conducted among 250 senior business executives in the UAE with household incomes exceeding £250,000, found that a remarkable 96.4% are likely to consider eVTOLs for future business travel.

These executives see eVTOLs as an extension of their sophisticated lifestyles, prioritizing convenience (52.4%), an exciting new travel experience (49.6%), and reduced environmental impact (47.6%).

Beyond functionality, UAE executives expect eVTOL cabins to reflect regional design influences (48.8%), flexible family seating configurations (48.4%), and an immersive passenger experience.

Comfort is paramount, with 41.2% prioritizing seating quality, while 26.4% demand advanced in-flight entertainment systems—even for short-haul journeys.

The desire for customization is overwhelming, with 97.6% of respondents expressing a preference for bespoke interiors, including custom colour palettes, ambient lighting, and tailored entertainment options.

As eVTOL technology continues to evolve, the UAE’s elite are poised to redefine the future of high-end, sustainable air mobility.

Archana Dharni, event director at AIX, said: This survey provides invaluable data that will undoubtedly shape the conversations and innovations we see at AIX this year.

“With 97.60% of respondents demanding personalised eVTOL interiors, the message is clear: bespoke luxury is no longer a trend in the UAE, it’s an expectation.

“The fact that 83.60% believe current business jet interiors are outdated highlights a crucial opportunity for our exhibitors to showcase truly innovative cabin designs that break the mold.

“AIX is where the industry converges to define the future of flight, and this year, we’re placing a special emphasis on ensuring eVTOL cabins not only meet, but exceed the evolving expectations of this discerning clientele.”

Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) will take place in Halls B1-B7 at the Hamburg Messe, Germany, from 8-10 April 2025.

The event will be co-located with the World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo (WTCE) in Halls A1 and A4, following the Passenger Experience Conference (PEC) on 7 April.
