Planet 9 Provides Supplies and Transport to Aid in Maui Wildfires Relief Efforts

On Friday, Aug. 11, Planet 9, a private aviation company based in Van Nuys, CA, led and transported much-needed aid to those impacted by the Maui wildfires.

The company assisted in spearheading donations efforts through an Amazon wish list and direct drop-offs in an effort to gather a substantial amount of supplies for those affected.

Fulfillment was organized by Planet 9 team members with additional efforts from Ryan Harris of EcoByRy and individuals from Maui Helping Maui and New Zealand Seafood.

The effort was supported by Castle & Cooke Aviation and Avfuel, which donated nearly 3,000 pounds of sustainable aviation fuel for the trip.

The round trip journey was aboard a Bombardier Global Express, starting from Castle & Cooke’s Van Nuys Airport FBO to the company’s Honolulu FBO.

Upon return, Planet 9 provided complimentary flights to the mainland for nine victims of the fires who were stranded in Maui.

Matt Walter, co-founder of Planet 9 said. “We feel deeply for the people of Maui and those impacted by the devastating wildfires in Lahaina.

“We know the community there is strong, but currently in need with a long road to recovery ahead.

“While arranging to assist with evacuating people off the island, we looked to see how we could also bring aid to those living there. We’re humbled to play a part in relief and recovery efforts.

“While we’re happy to have assisted where we could, we still encourage those who were unable to contribute to our Amazon wishlist to continue to support Maui through other trusted organizations such as the American Red Cross, Maui Strong Fund, Maui Food Bank, Maui Humane Society and more.”
