British aviation firm Vertical Aerospace has confirmed that Morocco will play a role in producing its VX4 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, through industrial operations run by a Spanish partner in Casablanca.
The project will be delivered in collaboration with Aciturri Aerostructures, a leading aerospace supplier, which will manufacture the VX4’s full airframe — including wings, tail, pylons and fuselage — for both pre-series and certified production versions.
Part of the work will be carried out at Aciturri’s Moroccan facility, with the company also responsible for engineering key components and overseeing production, ensuring quality, traceability and energy efficiency.
Vertical Aerospace chief executive Stuart Simpson said the VX4’s design demands a structure that is both lightweight and strong. “Aciturri has the industrial capacity to bring the aircraft into full-scale production,” he added.
The VX4 is intended to carry four passengers and a pilot, with a range of 160km and a cruising speed of 240km/h, and is aimed at providing a clean, fast and efficient alternative for short-haul urban and regional travel.
