Japan Aviation Service (JAS) has become the first ground handling company in Japan to receive the ISBAH accreditation across its network at five operational sites: Tokyo, Narita, Kansai, Chitose, and Naha.

The IS-BAH Stage 1 achievement, issued by the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC), confirms that all five JAS locations have voluntarily chosen to meet and enhance the safety and efficiency of their ground handling operations through implementation of globally recognised industry best practices.

IS-BAH registration helps states, service providers, and international general aviation operators meet their obligations under ICAO Annex 19 on Safety Management Systems (SMS) by positively identifying organisations who have adopted and implemented an industry Standard that follows the same ICAO SMS structure they are obliged to follow themselves.

JAS was established in 1987 as Japan’s first ground handling company and has been providing services at airports throughout the country for over 40 years.

Its end-to-end services include flight support, fuel supply, crew and passenger assistance and co-ordination of domestic and international charter flights.

Tomoyoshi Tsuchiya, CEO of JAS, said: “We are extremely proud to have received the IS-BAH registration, which reflects the quality and commitment we have maintained over the years.

“This accreditation officially confirms our safety management infrastructure that meets international standards for safety and excellence.

“We will continue to deliver reliable, high-quality services and contribute to the ongoing growth of the business aviation industry.”

Terry Yeomans, IS-BAH programme director added: “We congratulate JAS on their IS-BAH achievement, a first for Japan, and an admirable accomplishment for voluntarily aligning all five locations at the same time.

“We look forward to supporting the JAS team on their safety journey and wish them much success.”

JAS said it remains committed to providing the highest standards of service as a ground handler and sincerely appreciates the continued support and patronage received from its customers and welcomes new business opportunities with business aviation operators from around the world.
