Duncan Aviation is offering the Airtext connectivity system to its customers who may be looking for an alternative to other in-flight connectivity or entertainment options.
The Airtext in-flight communications system includes a variety of options that won’t break the bank. Depending on the subscription you choose, passengers and crew can make app-based phone calls, send text messages and emails, and watch Oasis moving map features during flight.
This efficient service uses the global Iridium satellite network and is available through an easy-to-navigate application that pilots, flight crew, and passengers can download to their personal devices, such as tablets, smartphones, and laptops.
Duncan Aviation is so confident in the system, it has installed Airtext on three of its own aircraft.
According to Flight Department Manager Craig Rathjen, the company-owned PC-12, Citation XLS, and Citation CJ3 all have Airtext aboard.
One of Duncan Aviation’s Corporate Jet Captains, Michael Kussatz, especially likes the Airtext system for the safety and convenience it provides pilots.
Kussatz says: “Often, during the last few minutes of a flight, when there are a lot of landing-related systems to focus on, we pilots have to shift our focus and notify the Fixed Base Operator (FBO) of our estimated time of arrival, how many passengers we have aboard, and how many cars we’ll need for them.
“With Airtext, we can notify the FBO during the cruising portion of the flight, which saves us time and attention when we’re getting ready to land.”
