A global coalition representing business aviation has urged aircraft operators travelling to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters in 2026 to use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) where possible.
The Business Aviation Coalition for Sustainable Aviation Fuel said operators should arrange SAF supplies through their fuel providers or fixed-base operators (FBOs).
It noted that more than 100 FBOs worldwide now offer physical SAF, including Jet Aviation at Zurich Airport, a key gateway for flights heading to the WEF.
For operators flying from airports where SAF is not physically available, the coalition highlighted the use of the “Book and Claim” system as an alternative way to cut emissions and support the SAF market.
Under the Book and Claim model, operators buy SAF at an airport where it is available and receive credits for the associated emissions reductions, even though the fuel is not loaded directly onto their aircraft.
The fuel is instead added to the global supply chain, helping to reduce overall aviation emissions.
The coalition includes major industry bodies such as the Canadian Business Aviation Association (CBAA), European Business Aviation Association (EBAA), National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), International Business Aviation Council (IBAC), National Air Transportation Association (NATA) and the Vertical Aviation International (VAI).
It said the initiative supports the business aviation sector’s goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
