Air Cargo Handling Conference 2010 Review

“Service is the reason we are here,” said P Balasubramanian (Bala), Manager Cargo Global Operations Services, Emirates SkyCargo, at EVA International’s Air Cargo Handling Conference in Brussels, hosted by Brussels Airport. The forum provided the perfect opportunity for airlines, handlers, airports and other service providers to address the thorny issue of how both to provide quality services and yet retain adequate margins in a highly competitive sector.

Many themes evolved from EVA International’s 2010 air cargo handling conference, but the ones that were reiterated time and again were: understanding expectations, consistency of service and control of processes.

Chris Notter, Cargo HUB Operations Manager at Etihad (and conference co-Chairman along with Bala) was clear that there will never be an issue with sourcing teams to deliver this service as long as the appropriate training and competence is put in place.
